Background
Senem Kathrin Güçlüer is a co-founder of GEMS Schindhelm, the Turkish member of the Schindhelm Alliance, established in 2018, and heads the firm's German Desk.
After moving to Istanbul she worked at Türkoğlu & Partner until 2007. In the same year she co-founded Kunt & Partner, where she was a partner until 2018.
Senem Kathrin Güçlüer completed her entire school and university education in Germany and in 1992 concluded her law studies at the Faculty of Law of Freie Universität Berlin with the First State Examination (Erstes Staatsexamen).
She works in German, English and Turkish.
Senem Kathrin Güçlüer is a co-founder of GEMS Schindhelm and heads the firm's German Desk. Legally trained in Germany, she has been responsible since the firm's foundation for looking after German- and English-speaking clients in commercial and corporate matters and is the central point of contact for German-speaking companies and private individuals from the first enquiry to the conclusion of the mandate.
Her focus lies on the market entry of foreign companies in Turkey. She is responsible for the entire formation and registration process of new companies, manages the subsequent ongoing support of subsidiaries including shareholders' and general meetings, and accompanies work and residence permit procedures both for employees seconded to Turkey and for private individuals relocating to Turkey. Her legal training in Germany enables her to explain Turkish procedures and structures in terms familiar to German-speaking clients.
Senem Kathrin Güçlüer is also the link between German-speaking clients and the accounting and audit team of GEMS Serbest Muhasebeci Mali Müşavirlik A.Ş.; she manages the coordination between clients, accountants and auditors on bookkeeping, payroll and tax filing obligations. The firm's German-language correspondence with authorities, consular representations and corporate headquarters is likewise her responsibility.
Within the Schindhelm Alliance she represents GEMS Schindhelm on the Partners' Council and the Marketing Council and coordinates cross-border cooperation with the Alliance offices. She also coordinates investments of Turkish clients abroad in cooperation with the offices of the Schindhelm Alliance and the firm's partner law firms in other countries. She represents the firm at the German-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Türkiye) and is responsible for the firm's traineeship and exchange programmes, including practice2goabroad and Erasmus+.
She further has many years of experience in transport and aviation law and supports airlines and their insurers in passenger liability claims, aircraft damage and cargo damage matters.
